C. Have you ever wondered, what you would do if you had enough money?

To crown it all you are living independently in the direct meaning of this word: you've got a one-roomed, well-planned flat of your own.

My room is usually clean, but when I left this morning, it was so messy that my dog wouldn’t come in. My pink silk dressing gown and pajamas were thrown across my unmade bed. My slippers were lying there in the middle of the floor and I hate to admit it, but the floor was covered with a thick layer of dust. Off to the right, my dressing table was piled high with caps from lotions; old empty bottles, hair curlers and different perfumes. And finally, my chest of drawers was overflowing with dirty clothes left over from last week and maybe even the week before.
When I think of my room, it makes me glad I am not there.

My Home in Wilmington Heights
When I think of the sights, sounds, and smells of my neighbourhood, it makes me wish that I were living somewhere else instead of Wilmington Heights. I have lived in this neighbourhood all my life. When my family first moved here, the area was pleasant and the apartments were recently built. The lawn was well cut, and the environment was clean. But things have changed.

The project consists of brick apartment, which have faded in colour. Outside, there is only a limited amount of grass. The grounds consist mostly of dirt. The streets have large holes and are covered with glass. If you are trying to avoid getting a flat tire, please do not visit. Many people pile up trash on the sidewalk, which is a sight to see. You can see paper flying all around on windy days.

You may hear gunshots when people are fighting. People often use rude language. Children are constantly playing and making noise with their bicycles and skates. Most of the parents call their children without using their names, but using words I do not enjoy hearing. At night and during the day, it is very disturbing hearing police sirens and trains passing across the tracks. I really wish my neigbourhood would calm down.

Fortunately, there are two places where I can hide from all the unpleasant views, smells and sounds of my neighbourhood. First of all this is my house, my own room to be exact. It’s there I can switch on the tape-recorder, close my eyes and listen to music creating any smells and pictures I like. Another is my friend’s place, where we can spend hours chatting, reading, playing tricks on one another.

Refreshment in Geiersperger
The resort to visit this winter is Geiersperger, situated high in the Austrian Alps. It is a small, peaceful town bordering a lake, with majestic mountains surrounding it as far as the eye can see.
The snow-capped peaks provide an impressive background to picturesque Geiersperger. The air is fresh with the smell of pine trees, and a white blanket of snow covers everything for five months of the year.
Nestle inside the cosy wooden chalets by a log fire or take a walk by the lake, where the only sound you will hear is the crunch of snow underfoot. If you are feeling really energetic, you can take a cable car up the mountain and go skiing on the thrilling slopes nearby.
